Theresa Jessouroun was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Graduated as a geographer in 1981, started as a professional photographer with 20 years old. In 1980 initiated working in brazilian feature films as still photographer, going through many other positions in the crew as script girl, editor assistant, producer assistant and director assistant, in films by Walter L.Junior, Antonio Calmon, Fabio Barreto, etc.
In 1985, Theresa moved to Barcelona, Spain, working for two years as editor in Germinal Video Productions, an independent video production company. Returning to Brazil in 1986, she directed her professional activities to television, performing as editor for TV GLOBO, in Rio de Janeiro. In 1989 studied Screenplay Techniques Course at the International School of Cinema and TV of Cuba ( Santo Antonio de los Baños).
Since 1990 has dedicated herself exclusively to documentaries production, beginning as assistant to the prize brazilian documentary filmaker Eduardo Coutinho (for 6 years), as to the documentary filmmakers Helena Solberg, Silvio Tendler, Geraldo Sarno, having produced also many documentaries shot in Brazil, for foreign TV channels asNational Geographic Television, Channel 4, ZDF/ARTE, BBC and Discovery Channel. Since 1996 she has produced her own documentaries, as one of the partners of Kinofilmes, an independent production company in Rio de Janeiro.
